Leah and Scot’s wedding was held at Leah’s beautiful childhood home in Boerne, Texas. She had envisioned an intimate, outdoor ceremony in the forest followed by dinner, dancing, and camping under the stars. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, their families put hours upon hours of work into stringing lights, mulching trails, and doing whatever needed to be done to bring her vision to life. Unfortunately it happened to be the rainiest season Texas has seen in years and in the days leading up to the wedding, the weather wasn’t looking very promising. In a last minute decision they decided to move the reception to a tented area near the house. Though it wasn’t what they had planned and hoped for, Leah and Scot weren’t phased. What really mattered was rain or shine, they were getting married with all of their favorite people surrounding them.
The rain held off (sort of) long enough for the ceremony to be in the forest and as everyone walked away to the reception site, we were hit with a torrential downpour and golf ball sized hail. It only lasted 3o minutes or so and then in the stillness, a rainbow appeared. The best part was everyone kicked off their shoes, embraced the mud, and had not a care in the world. Even though things didn’t go as planned, the “mud fest” as Leah now refers to it just may have been even more memorable.
